Travel through the picturesque villages of the Cayo District before arriving at the stunning turquoise waters of Barton Creek Cave. This unforgettable experience begins with a canoe tour by torchlight, floating through a vast limestone cave system known for its pristine formations and tranquil atmosphere.
Beyond its natural beauty, Barton Creek Cave holds significant archaeological importance. Evidence suggests it was used by the ancient Maya for ceremonial and ritual purposes, with artifacts still visible along the cave ledges.
After completing the cave experience, the tour stops in a neighboring village where guests may purchase lunch. The journey then continues into the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, a protected area dominated by Pinus caribaea and rich in native flora and fauna. The day concludes with a hike to Big Rock Falls, one of the reserve’s most impressive waterfalls.
