Day 1: Arrive at Philip G. Airport

Arrive at Philip Goldson International Airport where you’ll be greeted by your birding guide. As we travel south toward Mayflower Bocawina National Park, the adventure begins with roadside birding en route. Expect your first encounters with tanagers, honeycreepers, and parrots.

Day 2: Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Reserve

After an early breakfast, take a short drive into the world-famous Jaguar Reserve. Target birds include Crested Guan, Scarlet-rumped and Golden-hooded Tanagers, Chestnut-headed Oropendola, Gray-chested Dove, tinamous, and of course, the spectacular Scarlet Macaw.

We’ll return to the lodge around midday, stopping for lunch en route. After dinner, enjoy a guided night hike in search of owls such as Spectacled Owl and Mottled Owl.

Day 3: Bocawina Falls and Transfer to Big Falls

Begin with early morning birding before breakfast, then take a scenic trail walk to Bocawina Falls. Possible sightings include Keel-billed Motmot, White-winged Becard, Cinnamon Becard, Middle American Leaftosser, and Central American Pygmy-Owl

After checkout, we’ll bird along the route as we continue south to The Lodge at Big Falls.

Day 4: Exploring Southern Belize – Big Falls

Start with dawn birding on the lodge grounds, home to Bare-crowned Antbird, Dot-winged Antwren, Mayan Antthrush, and Buff-throated Saltator.

After breakfast, venture to nearby birding hotspots in search of Black-crowned Antshrike, White-throated Flycatcher, and Mistletoe Tyrannulet.

Enjoy lunch in the village before returning for dinner and a relaxed evening. Overnight at The Lodge at Big Falls.s

Day 5: Blue Hole National Park and Western Belize

Early morning birding offers a chance to see Gray-breasted Crake, Ruddy Crake, and Buff-throated Foliage-gleaner.r

After breakfast, begin the journey north toward Blue Hole National Park, pausing for birding stops to look for Mealy Parrot and White-tipped Dove. Continue westward to Crystal Paradise Resort, where you’ll enjoy dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Mountain Pine Ridge

After an early breakfast, depart with a packed lunch for a full day at Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve. This unique ecosystem offers the chance to see Lovely Cotinga, Ornate Hawk-Eagle, Violet Sabrewing, Black-headed Siskin, Gray-headed Kite, Double-toothed Kite, Greater Pewee, and White-collared Swift.

Return for dinner and overnight at Crystal Paradise Resort.

Day 7: Sunset Birding: Black Rock Road | Elijio Panti National Park

Following breakfast, the day’s birding route will be chosen depending on target species — either Black Rock Road or Elijio Panti National Park. After lunch in town, enjoy a sunset birding session at local rice fields, searching for Yucatan Poorwill, Yucatan Nightjar, Northern Potoo, Striped Owl, Uniform Crake, and Black-and-white Owl.

Day 8: Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and Transfer North

After breakfast, head to Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary to look for Gray-collared Becard, Blue and Variable Seedeaters, Slate-colored Seedeater, Yellow-tailed Oriole, and Rufous-breasted Spinetail. Enjoy lunch before continuing north to the Rio Bravo Conservation Area, where we’ll overnight at La Milpa Ecolodge.

Day 9: La Milpa Ecolodge and Rio Bravo Birding

Spend the morning birding around La Milpa, with highlights such as Great Curassow, Pheasant Cuckoo, Barred Forest-Falcon, Strong-billed and Streak-headed Woodcreepers, White-throated Thrush, Golden-crowned Warbler, Green Honeycreeper, and Ocellated Turkey.

After lunch and a short siesta, enjoy more birding in the afternoon before dinner.

Day 10: Sarteneja Village

Begin with a pre-breakfast bird walk, then return for breakfast and checkout. On the drive toward Sarteneja Village, stop at rice fields to look for sandpipers, storks, crakes, and the Grassland Yellow-Finch. Lunch en route before arriving in Sarteneja.

Day 11: Bird's Eye View Lodge | Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary

Enjoy pre-breakfast birding around Sarteneja in search of Rose-throated Tanager, Orange Oriole, Caribbean Dove, Gray-throated Chat, and Yellow-bellied Elaenia. After a late breakfast and checkout, transfer toward Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, with a stop for lunch along the way.

Evening birding focuses on Yellow-headed and Yellow-lored Parrots.

Day 12: Bird's Eye View Lodge | Crooked Tree Lagoon Birding

Start with a pre-breakfast bird walk before enjoying a boat tour on Crooked Tree Lagoon, famous for wetland birding. Expect sightings of Agami Heron, Black-collared Hawk, Sungrebe, Pinnated Bittern, Boat-billed Heron, American Pygmy Kingfisher, and Aplomado Falcon.

After lunch and a siesta, head out again for an afternoon walk in search of Yucatan Jay, Yucatan Woodpecker, and other regional specialties.

Day 13: Optional bird walk

Optional early bird walk before breakfast. After checkout, transfer to Philip Goldson International Airport for departure flights. Expect to leave about 3 hours before your scheduled flight to allow time for airport check-in..
